I think over the years ive improved at narrowing down what aspects of a piece actually need detail and which can be left more vague. A lot comes down to shifting feelings on what makes a character hot, and having a better understanding of a character. Ive become more drawn to more exaggerated proportions. Revisions also give me an opportunity to emohasize aspects of a character i didnt think to do prior. Its just a natural part of the process for me!

Fighting games are essentially "what if Jazz music had PVP enabled?". Theres pleasure in learning how a character/system works and becoming "fluent" in how they perform, but you also have to do this WHILE fighting someone. You have to be aware of rhythms, both for combos as well as rhythms of player habits, and theres something beautiful in how these games both ask you to embrace those rhythms and break them at the same time.

If you like having ample room for self expression and improvement as a player, fighting games are honestly top tier. And theres so many different KINDS of games to choose from! Even for older games, just find a player discord and go nuts!
