infodump to me about your special interest or hyperfixation rn!!

I was not sure which one to choose, so I'll just talk about Anubis the Egyptian deity.

Anubis has been a deity of interest since I was like, 6 years old, he just kinda comes and goes in my head over the years. Now, Anubis had several roles, and when referenced in most media, he's shown as a 𝗴𝗼𝗱 of 𝗺𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻/𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 rites and an 𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿 in the 𝗗𝘂𝗮𝘁/𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱. Weighing hearts/souls before accepting in to the afterlife, that's one of his major roles for sure.

However, Anubis is also a 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗯𝘀/𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀, and there's even of story of him taking Set's skin/coat for attempting to desecrate Osiris' body. Anubis is also a 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗹𝘀 (to the Greeks, he'd be classified as a 𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗺𝗽) and he helps the deceased crossover. Another deity that guides souls to the 𝗗𝘂𝗮𝘁/𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 is actually Hathor, though she doesn't have the same strong connections to the afterlife as Anubis does.

I'm not really an expert on this, it's just a topic that comes and goes. I'm also not very good at explaining stuff so I apologize. I frequently visited pages in the Egyptian books I had when I was younger that talked about mummification and other little facts that caught my eye. It's too bad I'm not great at remembering, since it's been about 12 years since then. ^^;
