What does Fredi like to do in his free time, any specific interests he enjoys to indulge in or hobbies he doesn't get to do as often due to time constraints, resources, etc?
Fredi has a few hobbies he indulges in regularly!
First, and I think foremost, they play Dungeons & Dragons! Most of the time Fredi is the Dungeon Master! They love D&D so, so much! Their favorite class to play is barbarian or wizard if they ever get to play. (They have kind of become perma-DM.)
He also does kink as a hobby! They are a true switch, equally enjoying Domming and subbing! They are loudly involved in the kink community in their city! They go to munches, picnics, play parties, all sort of things!
Fredi loves fantasy & scific as well, so they read lots of books and consume all the fantasy and sci-fic movies and shows they can. They prefer Star Trek over Star Wars before anyone asks, but they do like Star Wars.
Would Ridley ever try to become a music artist himself, due to his love of music? Has he tried in the past, failed, realized it wasn't fit for him? Does his love for music mostly reside in enjoying other peoples music?
Ridley is actually in a band! It's called Spider's Delight! He knows how to play several instruments. He has played piano since he was six years old. He also knows how to play guitar, the drums, and a little bit of ukulele. He dabbles in any instrument he can get his hands on. For Spider's Delight, he plays guitar or piano and he sings. He writes a lot of the songs with his best friend and fellow bandmate Rebecca!
He also desperately loves enjoying other people's music. He is constantly listening to music! He loves going to shows, concerts, festivals. He lives, breathes, and eats music.
Do any of your OCs have pets, or would want to have pets?
Yes! Plenty of my OCs have pets! Here in no particular order they are.
First, my OCs that don't have pets in the present time that I write most of their fics in, but want them:
- Ridley! This boy wants a dog so bad. He and Remy will probably end up adopting a dog.
- Juliette! She wants a cat and will end up married to someone who has a cat. She will most likely end up adopting another one with her husband.
The OCs that do have pets!
- Dove! She has a golden retriever named Brutus. He is the biggest himbo in dog form you'll ever meet. He would roll over and show his belly to an intruder.
- Elsie! She has an orange kitty called Clover who is a very sweet girl. Clover follows Elsie around her apartment.
- Clayton! A newer OC of mine Clayton has two pittbull mixes. Cash and Boone. Cash is a rescued fighting dog so he has some scars and a notch in one of his ears. Boone is the more cuddly, friendly of the pair. They are both fiercly loyal to Clayton.
I feel like I'm missing something but those are the ones I can think of now.
When did Juliette pick up art as a hobby?
Oh, this girl has been drawing for as long as she's been able to hold writing utensils! She got in trouble a lot as kiddo for drawing on her school work. She started taking art classes as soon as she could. She didn't get into digital art until she was seventeen when Grayson purchased her her first iPad.
What is Ridley's favorite style when it comes to clothes? What is he most comfortable and happy wearing?
Ridley loves a sort of punk aesthetic! Lots of black, fishnet, studs, chains. He loves layering as a styling technique. He is most comfortable when all of his scars are covered by he gets to show off his tattoos. You'll see him wearing a lot of sleeveless tops because of this reason! His arms are absolutely covered in tattoos! He has a pretty severe scar on his hip from when he tried to gouge out the brand Grayson gave him. His thighs are also covered in scars.
If Ridley didn't pursue music, what other career paths could he have excelled at?
This is a difficult questions because no matter the au music is usually a very big part of Ridley's life. One of his core personality traits is his belief that he was created to make music. I feel like I'm fundamentally changing who Ridley is as as a character if music isn't one of the most important things in his life.
He is a very creative person, so any sort of creative career is something likely. He enjoys creating visual art so I could see that being a career path. I've considered a few au's where Ridley is an actor. He is very passionate and that translates to him working very hard in the things he cares about and creative pursuits are the easiest way for him to use his passion.
How do Remy and Ridley meet? And what is Ridley's favorite thing about Remy?
Ridley meets Remy after running away from Grayson! He starts working at a restaurant as a dishwasher. Remy also works there! Remy is Ridley's first real friend.
Remy is actually who Ridley ends up with at the end of his canonical story. His favorite thing about Remy changes over the years but one thing is always consistent. Remy has always made Ridley feel very safe. He has always been a very kind, caring man, and he was the first person Ridley felt like gave him unconditional love. Remy helped Ridley unlearn a lot of unhealthy ideals about romantic relationships.
If Ridley could get some kind of revenge on Grayson for the things he put him through, would he? If not, why? And if so, what would he do to him?
In a perfect situation yeah, Ridley would love the opportunity to inflict a fraction of the pain onto Grayson that he inflicted on Ridley. But, in reality Ridley would never do anything. He is genuinely terrified of the man, scared for his life.
When thinking of one of the other men who abused him Ridley often imagines lighting him on fire, but he really tries his hardest not to think of Grayson just because of the sheer amount of fear associated with him. Sometimes just the mere thought of Grayson can be triggering for Ridley. So, I like to think his revenge fantasy for Grayson would be similar to the other. Death by pyre.
If Alice was able to have the child she always wanted, what were some things she would have done to spend time with her child? What kind of a mother would she have been?
The prerequisite for Alice being a good mother is her having LOTS of therapy and a healthy partner. If she has both of those things she's capable of being a good mom.
Canonically her only biological child is a girl she only held one time and named Aster and only saw once more in her entire life. In AU's where Alice ends up having children at any point she spoils her girls. She's very supportive and encouraging and really loves doing all of the stereotypical girly-girl things. Shopping, manis and pedis, hair salons. I haven't really given Alice having a boy much thought. I think she'd struggle a little to connect with a boy but she'd work to cultivate his interests, probably put him in sports.
Alice is a very flawed woman but she has a lot of love in her heart. In a healthy environment she would be a supportive but slightly overbearing mom. The kind that wants to take "just one more picture" for dances, always showing up for every game, show, or any activity her children are in, and always gives slightly too long hugs that have her kids groaning and getting embarrassed.
Does Grayson have the harem size he does on purpose? Would he acquire more, given the chance? Or is he just like "no, this is the correct amount of animals in the zoo."
No, this size is not on purpose. At its largest, The Menagerie has five women in it! They all adopt an animal identity for their kink/play persona. In chronological order they are; Alice Bolton - Kitten, Mia Russel - Puppy, Elsie Thompson - Piglet, Dove Fowler - Bird, Juliette Hammond - Bear Cub.
Grayson has been polyamorous the entire time he's had romantic and sexual relationships, but when he and Alice began their committed relationship he didn't have any plans to have a harem. When he met Mia he was intrigued by the way she spoke about her play persona and why she enjoyed puppy play as much as she did. Mia is the reason he started the play personas, she asked him to brand her, she's why he even considered trying to pursue other longterm serious relationships.
Every other addition to The Mengarie has been merely through happenstance. He didn't seek the other girls out with the intention of adding them to The Menagerie, it just sort of happened.
Grayson, where did you go to medical school? You have Docktor MeDickul Shkool vibes like count olaf and i demand to see your degree and proof of residency
Grayson went to a university in England to get a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Counselling (Honours). He went on to get a PhD in Clinical Psychocolgy at a university in France. He did his residency in Chicago.
Hey ridley do you like eldritch abominations with big dicks? Asking for a friend. Is the occasional river of eyes a dealbreaker
Ridley: "Uh... No? I mean... I wouldn't say no to a big dick but an eldrict abomination sounds terrifying. And eyes freak me out real bad."
I feel like you told me before, but how does Grayson end up with Ridley in his life?
After running away from Grayson at fifteen Ridley lived with a man named Jack Wolfe for a year. (Jack is where Ridley got his surname from.) He manages a bar and employs Ridley part time. While working there as a bus boy Ridley meets Grayson, who is an occasional patron of the bar. After meeting Ridley Grayson begins coming to the bar more often, slowly beginning the process of grooming him. When Jack dies suddenly in a car crash Ridley is suddenly homeless again. Grayson offers Ridley a place to stay so he can get on his feet, but it's with the ulterior motive of continuing to groom him. Ridley lives with Grayson for just a little over two years and nearly dies during that time.
When did Juliette's suicidal ideation start? Was she that depressed before her trauma?
Yes, Juliette was depressed before her trauma (meaning the incident where her ex-boyfriend made her a victim of revenge porn at age 15 that resulted in her suicide attempt). Juliette had incredibly neglectful parents so never had anyone looking out for her mental health, or her anything really. The lack of care from her parents and the unstable, toxic environment they were raising her in led to her being depressed at a very young age.
Her suicidal ideation started in middle school as more passive suicidal thoughts. Things like, βI just want to sleep forever,β or βitβd be easier if I werenβt here.β As middle school progressed passive turned to active and at the end of eight grade Juliette was struggling with regular thoughts of, βI want to be dead.β
The summer before she started freshman year she was fifteen and she met the guy who would become her boyfriend, Mason who was nineteen at the time. This was a reprieve from her depression and suicidal thoughts. For the first time Juliette felt like she had something to live for, at least until they broke up. The break up hit her very hard and then when Mason posted sexually explicit photos and videos of her Juliette began experiencing bullying to a severe degree. This lead to constant, loud thoughts of, βI want to kill myself.β So, on her sixteenth birthday she walked to a bridge to attempt.
How much of Grayson's past misdeeds does Alice know about?
Alice met Grayson when he was twenty-eight. He had quite a few misdeeds by this point. In the present day I write most of my fics in Alice is thirty-eight and Grayson is forty-eight. By that point, I would say Alice only knows about ten percent of his past misdeeds. She knows he was involved in a fight in high school that nearly got him expelled but very little else about the incident. She knows that his fiancΓ©e died after a car crash where he was the driver and that he feels responsible for her death but very little else.
Grayson is an intensely private individual. From my fic Pantomime Matrimony, "This man who took nearly five years of knowing her to tell her what town in France he spent every summer in until he turned twenty-five." Grayson doesn't share very deeply of himself and works even harder to hide previous wrongdoing, so Alice really is not in the know.
Do you have any 'voice claims' for any of your OCs? Be it for speaking or singing voices?
Not many! I want more! One day I will share a playlist of songs that are the vibe of Ridley's band, Spider's Delight. But I think my only voice claim so fair is for Grayson. Woodkid (Yoann Lemoine), is a French music producer. He has a thicker accent than Grayson would but the vocal tone is similar I think. Listen to Pale Yelllow by him or L'aΓ©rogramme de Los Angeles if you want to hear some French!
If one of Grayson's subs died, who would he be the most heartbroken about losing? Bonus points if we hear how said sub died!
From most to least heartbreaking for Grayson is: Alice, Juliette, Elsie, Dove, (Mia). The two most likely candidates for dying of unnatural causes are Alice or Juliette.
If Alice died of unnatural causes the most likely thing would be Grayson murdering her. If he did it's likely he'd either beat her to death, strangle her, or break her neck. It would fuck him up severely. He finds Alice's regulation of his behavior annoying but he is unaware how grounded she keeps him. Without her, he would become more violent & unstable.
If Juliette died it would be by suicide and it would destroy Grayson. He would feel as though he failed again. Juliette soothes two of his past aches (his dead fiancΓ©e, Simone, and a patient of his who died from suicide named Darcy) and he subconsciously feels as though taking care of her and providing for her amends those mistakes.
Does Grayson have any reoccurring dreams or nightmares?
Yes! His fiancΓ©e in his mid-twenties died after a car crash where he was driving the car. Even into his forties, he's still having nightmares about that crash and her death. Over the years the nightmares have become less literal and more abstract but as June (the month she died in) approaches they become more literal. He goes to visit her grave every year and during that time he has intense nightmares that usually result in him not sleeping.
As far as dreams go I wouldn't say he has any reoccurring dreams but there is always a sort of mechanical aspect to his dreams. Not steampunk but some sort of gears and machinery present in most of his dreams.
When and how did Elsie learn how to bake?
When Elsie was in high school! Learning to cook & bake was part of her treatment plan with Grayson when he was her psychiatrist. It was a sort of exposure therapy for her. It helped her learn to love food and she found a passion for baking and sharing sweet treats. She'd bring treats for her high school friends during lunch a lot.
Grayson in a lawless, chaotic environment, say post apocalyptic. Would he thrive or die?
I want to say he'd thrive for a while. He's pretty violent and I think he'd adapt well to the more chaotic elements of post-apocalyptic world. I think eventually his rich boy ass would die though. He'd last longer than me that's for sure.
Does Ridley have any favorite movies?
David Bowie movies. Any of 'em. He particularly enjoys Labyrinth! He's not really much of a movie guy though. He likes older films with action & blood. He loves the Kill Bill films.
How different would things have turned out if Grayson's advance on his mom had actually worked?
Oh, what a good question!! It's hard to say because there's no universe where she would want to fuck him. But, let's say she's drunk enough to have sex with him. If that did happen she would regret it very deeply in the morning and she'd blame Grayson for 'taking advantage of her' even she had consented the previous night. It would result in pretty much the same ending where he runs off to the USA and changes his name.
But, the sex would be incredibly, crushingly disappointing for him. Discovering his mother is just another woman and not the god he'd built her up in his head would probably make him spiral faster. I think this would push him to committing a violent crime against a woman and he'd get caught.
What does Ridley most frequently have nightmares about? Does he remember these nightmares? How do they affect him when he's awake?
Ridley spent four years being groomed by Alec Underwood (who belongs to @macthedke) and he lived with him for a year. He also lived with Grayson for a little over two years. I say that to explain that he most frequently has nightmares about them. His dreams are often abstract and that extends to his nightmares. He hallucinates Alec and Grayson had lightning and thunder, so his nightmares frequently include thunderstorms. He also frequently has nightmares of being chased.
He does not usually remember his nightmares. Itβs not always to his advantage though, to answer the last two questions together. Sometimes, if his nightmares are bad enough, he may wake up not fully connected to reality. He may think heβs a different age than he actually is, he may not know where he is, he may not recognize his surroundings. This doesnβt happen often, usually a product of his mental health doing particularly badly. When heβs having better days he still probably wonβt remember his nightmares but will feel tired and groggy all day.
Does Dove's mother ever come to regret the way she treated her as time goes on?
Yes! After Dove leaves her hometown she never returns and she never speaks to her mother again. Laurie eventually gets sober and as the years go on and she continues to not hear from Dove she gets sadder and sadder. She will always have a rosier view of her actions than anything close to the truth, but eventually she comes to accept a little bit of fault in how she treated Dove. Certainly too little too late.
What are Alice's hobbies? What makes her happy / what does she like to do to pass the time?
Alice is very athletic! She and Grayson are part of a country club and you can find her there often participating in some class. Pilates, yoga, you name it she probably does it. She also plays tennis. Alice has played tennis since middle school and she LOVES it. Sheβs pretty good!
She also a wine connoisseur! She loves trying new wines and pairing them with different food. Itβs one of the things she and Grayson bond over. Theyβve been to many wineries over the years together.
Alice also has an entire room in her apartment dedicated to Mommy Domming. Alice is a Mommy Domme and has been domming regularly since she was 20. She loves doing it.
She also reads pretty frequently. Mostly nonfiction, she likes biographies and in depth dives of fashion and architectural history. Grayson tried to recommend books to her but she usually finds the things he reads very dry and very boring.
