no because at a certain point, a disorder only becomes a disorder when something that... technically everyone experiences "gets too much". getting distracted / focusing on the wrong thing? people do that, but when it gets too much, you may start to think something is going on with this person. oh, you were hearing voices but then they stopped? probably should get that checked but hopefully nothing. oh wait, you're hearing them nearly every day? definitely something wrong.

im perisex but im slowly just kinda accepting that sex is also not binary, which makes gender also not binary. the names we give these things are just things we made up and think "they're opposites!", when the way the universe decided to make things is to have polarities that highlight each other, not bring each other down. they can mix, match, mismatch, etc. in an order that works. no idea why this is an absurd thought.

controversial opinion: don't tell people to die or off themself?? no matter who they are? YES, this includes people who belong under the basic dni criteria. because listen, if things didn't go right prior, you would've been the same way. you aren't immune to being a bad guy or a bigot. that person is as deserving of basic human decency as you.

I liked your post for multiplicity. I almost wish I could be more vocal about this sort of stuff but, since I got no professional proof of my plurality being disordered or what terms to use for SOME of my fragmented selves (especially the oldest ones), I just can't really do that. But that post did shed some light ngl.

ahh, i'm glad it helped!! i have a deep interest in multiplicity and system related stuff and hoped it shed more light on multiplicity outside of a disordered lens. i always thought about what would i be like if i wasn't a system, and this gave me a clearer understanding that there's always more than you think there is.

and you can always invent your own terms for yourself! i've met many multiples, plurals, and systems who do. or you can use terms that other disordered plurals use and clarify your situation. either way, i hope you can find the language to talk about your experiences.

About Multiplicity by Sarah K Reece, via Dissociative Initiative

I really liked this read for the most part. It's all well written and opened up a few new doors on my perspective of the self. Even if I wasn't a system, I would probably still be 'multiple' in some sense because of it.

The paper isn't saying that certain experiences ARE multiple and that you HAVE to say you're multiple if you experience this. Just that these can fall under being multiple. It also talks about encouraging the voices of people who are multiple, whether they are thriving or struggling with their experience.

Multiplicity is a very broad term meaning any experience of more than ‘self’ in your mind or body. People have very different understandings of what it means to experience this ‘more than one’. In some cultures these experiences are considered sacred and valuable, in others they are seen as extremely negative and dangerous. People’s experiences vary widely from extremely distressing and life threatening through to deeply precious and life saving or enhancing. Some people’s experiences includes both extremes.

Some people may see these selves outside of their body as people they can talk to, but others do not. Multiplicity may be a temporary situation but for some it is enduring – this can be a good or bad thing. It can be confusing to become aware of the many different ways people can understand experiences of multiplicity, but it can also help to broaden our understanding and connect with others with a diversity of meanings and experiences.

(...)

Some people hear voices. Some have different genders on different days. Some connect with angels, ancestors, spirits, or ghosts. Some people experience possession, feel or believe they are haunted or have a connection with the spirit world. People with multiplicity may be shamans, madmen, disordered, Otherkin, disabled, traumatised, Soulbonded, or simply experiencing a natural diversity in humans (such as being gay or left-handed). It would take a large book to describe all the difference ways people understand multiplicity!

(...)

Unfortunately most of the clinical framework and language has been developed on the basis of things learned from the most distressed, overwhelmed, and floridly presenting people who have come into a lot of contact with the mental health system. While these people’s experiences are extremely important they are not the only experiences of multiplicity.

People with ‘lesser degrees’ of multiplicity also suffer when they have no language to talk about their experiences, people with all kinds of multiplicity suffer when they are presented with models that frighten them, don’t fit well, or predict severe suffering and incapacity. Everyone needs a voice, a language, the freedom to explore what works for them, and access to peers and possible role models.

“Disorganized attachment results when frightening or abusive parental behavior places infants in an irresolvable conflict: the desire to move toward the caregiver and flee from the source of fear, when they’re one and the same person."

"This activates two brain circuits simultaneously. The attachment circuitry screams out: ‘Go to my attachment figure for protection!’ Yet, at the same time, an even older circuit of survival screams, ‘Get away from this source of terror!’ The same person triggers approach and avoidance, and the infant’s capacity for an organized response collapses."

"This relational experience predicts the disorganized pattern of attachment in several studies. Further, this 'disorganized’ infant attachment pattern predicts later dissociative symptoms up to age 26 (and even borderline personality symptoms at age 28).”

‎ ‎ ₊ ‎ ‎ still figuring out a format for these, but... What's your favorite album? Does it have a deep meaning (that could be to you or in general)? Do you relate to any of the songs?

I have one, IGOR by Tyler, the Creator.

I got only one or two favourite albums. One is Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory, which is simply just my proper introduction to rock music as a kid and first time being a fan of a band. I don't really relate to the songs but they mean much to me.

Second is "Tomorrow Is Nearly Yesterday And Everyday Is Stupid'" by Crywank. The very first album where I liked and related to most of the songs. Primarily because I was in such a shitty headspace when I first listened to it, but now it kinda became a reminder of how I viewed myself. Sometimes when I'm in a slump or want to unwind, I just listen to a few songs.

🐟 !! you seem really cool :3c

hello, you seem pretty cool too! now, fish... i grew up in plenty of different countries, which kinda means i has multiple languages being spoken around me, along with the prevalence of youtube and the internet. this made me develop a blank accent! depending on what language i'm speaking, and who i'm speaking with, my accent sounds different each time. but i mostly sound american when speaking english...

can i get 2 orders of the 🐟🐟 please!

oh hello, hi! i can give you two fun facts :] either a fun fact about me or about a random topic. anyway...

  1. i like roleplaying! by that i mean i enjoy acting as characters i make up either through actual physical acting (moving my body, speaking as my character, etc) or through writing. i have one OC that i still relate to until now, because of how much i dumped my issues onto them. much love to Lake, was the pathway to me discovering being a system!

  2. we all know that the 7th day of the week is... sunday, obviously. day of the sun or something. but! monday isn't just... "mon", it stands for "moon". you can see this in spanish with monday being "lunes", and the spanish word for moon is "luna".
