Kanata likes watching souma cook and thinks he looks soooo cute when he's blowing on soup to cool it down. Souma might also get very passionate about knife technique and try to teach Kanata how to cut things more efficiently and safely... Maybe even guide Kanata with his hands. Ultra cute

I'd want something more leaning towards the self-expression side, but still electronic sounding. Like if Valk + switch fusion. I wouldn't lean towards cuteness/fanservice honestly, I just love his voice when he belts it makes me feel like he's smiling... So I'd want a theme that allowed him to feel comfortable with his self-expression and show the world how he feels

I think most of their designs look fine until fuyume sort of smashes through the teal/black/white. Honestly that + the unit theme being very fuyume... it reallyyy makes me wonder what kind of role they'll play in the future

Era's unit centricity has done wonders for characters like kuro and souma especially... this was supposed to be THEIR unit center coming up too

I actually think esupuri has a different inherent theme than knights, almost like an inversion of Knights' chivalry. Knights pledges their devotion to you, while Esupuri demands YOUR love. Knights gives, Esupuri takes. Their songs are also different genres. I think the decision to have unicorn themeing was intentional. Unicorns aren't real creatures, while Horses are certainly more real and reliable. Esu was also a former member of knights' failed branch so there's that. I do also think ibuki returning to esupuri and switching the concept/unit dynamic is in the cards tbh. Something about their current dynamic/theme seems Unreal. They're missing a centerpiece. Funnily enough, I don't think I would consider it if yume were the leader. But Esu so far hasn't exactly wanted this role (going so far as to try and give it to kanna)

Yeah he needs assistance to walk around without his glasses, and can't see people close to him (Couldn't recognize Izumi standing next to him in sportsfes) so he's more likely to be farsighted.

Kiryu is only a threat if Keito wants him to be. Souma likes to make executive decisions on his own to protect his #princess

I covered everything you just said in my previous responses and the thing is that I fundamentally disagree with the approach they are taking.

1. Akatsuki+ibuki / esupuri is the TRUE New start

What does that mean? We're approaching the year mark since newface's release, am I supposed to ignore the content we've gotten for them and how it was handled? Even before alkaloid was formed, we got a few chapters of their interaction, and in the case of Crazy:B, from the info we immediately got from their intro it was apparent that they were a group of highly individualistic people that aimed to break the norm. Good writing would mean that esupuri (not talking abt akt ibuki) would build off of the information that we've been given about these characters. At the moment, final ceremony just doesn't feel like it gave esupuri the time it needed to make those connections.

2. The 4piece tours are a promotional tactic

And they aren't a well executed one, because they weren't able to split their focus very well. Some of them, like VS Gladiator, completely neglected the kid involved, and even the more balanced ones like VS Audience had interactions and characters that showed up just for the sake of it. I don't know why Nazuna and Hiiro were teamed, and their teamup felt like it wasn't going anywhere in terms of future relationships unlike wataru+Izumi/keito+ibuki. They might mention it in a future scout or something but that's it.

3. The unit being based on esu and yume

Actually I said the unit was only based on yume. Esu had a completely different vibe on release. This point was also unrelated to the kids' relationships to each other and more about their individual character concept. When I started reading kanna's story, not once did I think "oh this kid is princely/his character revolves around obsession/lack of reciprocation" does that Make Sense.

4. They haven't even interacted yet

Yes! That's the problem! We had months of buildup to final ceremony only for it to be shorter than a gacha story! I understand that they wanted to do a live reading, but they could have done a live reading of only the first 6 chapters and still given us At Least Twenty in-game. This is the story where Esupuri meet! Where we get to know their dynamic and what draws them together and what matters to them! WHY IS IT SO SMALL! I understand wanting to keep the intrigue but gatekeeping something as integral as the unit dynamic by limiting its debut is sooooo unbelievably annoying! Personally I think it's a poor decision. I want to love esupuri. GIVE ME SOMETHING TO LOVE!

There's no need to remind me to be patient when I ended off my reply with "we'll have to wait and see", but the promise of future content does not protect esupuri and happyele's handling of the unit's debut and writing past a certain point. I'm just looking at what we have and voicing my concerns.

Thank u.. I used to think about him a lot and I still do, because when I first read homestuck i had no idea abt what kind of person hussie was. Which meant I never really thought of him as a joke character. I think he's just really interesting as this character that was internally torn to shreds and then banished into irrelevancy... a failed product of a System because he was just Too Kind, but he could only be kind in a way that was societally acceptable, which led to baffling hypocrisy and decision rationalization. I never rlly found him cringe in the way hussie probably intended lol. He was just a kid that broke everything he touched

They really did try to have a gradual buildup unfortunately newface was most certainly screwed over by the decisions made to have them be 4 stars for the 4piece tours. I think 4piece was a fine idea, but it tried to do too much in a very short span. Mass setup that we can't reliably count on to be seen through. In an ideal world, one of the kids would be the tour 5 star, and we would have 5 tours before final ceremony. Final ceremony would be a reasonable 25 chapters, a large portion of which would be dedicated to fleshing out the relationships and possible conflict between a group of 12-16 yr Olds and having to work as professionals. Ibuki would remain a mystery until the akatsuki event, which would have a prologue that took place after vs audience where we get to see what Keito told Kuro and Souma, and then we see Keito invite Ibuki to perform. It's not perfect, but it would help them feel like they're Real. I definitely feel like hkk is not committing to newface hard enough and it's just hurting old and new producers

I also assumed he had some form of private schooling, and ABYSS felt like it hinted at him staying at home most of the time, likely to keep the secrecy of the religion intact. For now I'm just imagining the 'school' in question is just another building on his family estate.

I think it's also relative to the participants of the ship. Adonis and souma is a popular Souma/adonis ship, but it's not a rarepair imo in spite of both characters unpopularity because they're relatively popular.

It was upsetting and I didn't like it and I'm still wary. A big part of the reason I was so hyped about kanna was the intrigue they built around his sense of dehumanization. I was excited to see where they would go with it. The unit concept is probably my least favorite, paired with 'unrequited' theme they have going on... For a unit whose focus is their intraunit relationships giving them only. THREE chapters of interaction with each other (barring esuyume) feels baffling. The unit concept feels like it's just been swallowed up by yume's concept. Esu's heavy adventuring focus, Raika's songbird/harpy concept, Kanna's genius/dehumanization concept... I know it's very early on, but if they really are going the 'prince' route I'm not Thrilled. Every unit in enstars so far has felt cohesive in how their members relate to the unit concept, and the unit concept is often explored in different ways through each member. The members of knights have chess pieces. Fine is a king's court. Akatsuki is tradition and change. Trickstar is youth. Valkryie is self expression, both beautiful and grotesque. You get the idea. Esupuri is... well it feels like an idol group made of ocs that different people came up with without any prior discussion. It makes me sad.... I'm not against them being in a group together, but right off the bat it feels like kanna and raika are being set up poorly. I guess we'll just have to wait and see though.

I kind of said it in my last answer but rarepairs are not Nothingburger... a Nothingburger is something that postures itself as 'filling' but ultimately is nothing substantial. Rarepairs are usually not nothingburgers unless you somehow expect more than is reasonable from an unpopular pairing. A true 'Nothingburger' ship would be like. Sakuatsu haikyuu lol. I don't think you need creativity to enjoy rarepairs either though sometimes the Fandom is just blind and a rarepair has a ton of Canon Meat to it (see, souma and kanata) that goes completely ignored. Also sometimes the yaoi agenda the writers are pushing is lame lol (see: yztr)

I get that but imo what frustrates me the most is when a rarepair DO have Canon interaction but the people shipping them don't even bother basing their ideas off of it/have no understanding of the characters involved. I'm not anti rarepair at all (see: I ship souma and keito with literally anyone I can lol) but I do feel a similar sentiment where certain pairs are liked for what tropes they might fit into rather than the actual characters they Are.
