I keep responding to so many global questions oops. I absolutely adore Billie Holiday because I’m a big fan of jazz and swing first and foremost. She’s most notable for singing the song “Strange Fruit” which was a protest anthem against lynching of African Americans. I was first introduced to her in my high school English class and I was so fascinated by her I dedicated like 2 weeks to researching whatever I could find about her lmao. Many people don’t know this but Billie holiday was also incredibly openly bisexual! Being bisexual, compounded with being a black woman at that time was like having a big red target on your back so i have so much respect for her and her craft. Her life was one of tragedy and I hope she’s resting well because she deserves it after having such a profound impact on the world of jazz
