Contact (1997). It's a really cool depiction of what would happen if SETI (the Search for Extraterrestial Intelligence) actually succeeded, and a meditation on what place spirituality has in our lives if humans are not the center of the universe. The book is as good as the movie, and takes it in a somewhat different direction.
