honestly i feel as if every single friend i make are fake. everytime i meet someone new the friendship is always one sided and im the only person who trys in the relationship, it has me to thinking im not good enough and im not cared about or liked, sometimes i wonder if im doing something wrong, this has lead to me cutting off people/ending relationships out of anger and hurt, no matter what i did and how good i treated them it feels like they didnt appreciate me, one day i just wish to find someone who likes me and cares about me as much as i do them and hopefully we could have a long lasting friendship, one relationship i had also played apart in me thinking these things as the person only used/talked to me when they where bored and nobody else would talk to them.

hello, anon! im very sorry this has been happening to you. friendships do need to have all parties trying to hold it up in order for it to last.

have you tried communicating to the friends that hurt you about this? it may be that theyre unintentionally hurting you. communication is an extremely important thing when it comes to building friendships, and if these friends do have good intentions then they should be able to understand where you're coming from.

i know that anger and feelings of hurt can be really overpowering, but next time try communicating with your friends honestly how you feel instead of ending something that could possibly sprout into a healthy friendship in the long run. if theyre good people then they will be able to sympathize with you and you can figure things out together.

you will find someone that loves you and enjoys to talk to you.

Thank you so much for being a safe space, we get hated on a lot for certain opinions, it's really tiring and we pretend to be nonchalant but it actually hurts so much, we're so conflict averse and getting into arguments makes us want to hurt ourselves We're just not doing too great, one of our friends lives near the Valencia region that got flooded and we were panicking so badly, praying he was alive (and he was perfectly fine, we were overreacting a ton...) Funny thing is we were panicking so badly over him just a few days ago and we don't even remember what it feels like to panic, it was so stressful we completely dissociated from it Sorry this is so nonsensical we just feel like we're going to cry Have a nice day, sorry to dump this on you /gen -Harmost

never apologize for expressing your feelings! everyone needs to get things off their chest once in a while. you can use this as a safespace whenever you need, ill reply whenever im available.

im glad to hear that your friend is okay. but you were not overreacting, believe me. anyone with a heart would react the same way in a situation like that. you had every right to be stressed out. im sure he appreciates you for being so worried about him.

How do I become more confident?

it depends on what type of confidence youre talking about. confidence in yourself? your appearance? your skills? etc.? in general:

  • dont be too hard on yourself. everyone makes mistakes and messing up once in a while isnt something thats unusual to anyone. i know it may be hard, but putting yourself down in the dumps just because youve done something wrong shouldnt prevent you from reaching forward and giving it a second attempt, or more. theres always a way to bounce back, even if you dont think so.
  • stop comparing yourself to other people. you are you and nobody else can match you or what you do. saying you wish you were better at [this] than [them] is completely normal, but you, as yourself, are already amazing and there are things that youre skilled at, im sure.
  • if you want to be better at something, then give it a try, and dont be upset when things dont go in your favor immediately. everything takes time and patience, and soon the stars will align for you to learn and develop more skill in whatever youre trying to do!
  • look on the bright side of things. i know this is corny advice but it really helps even if you dont think so. focusing on negative aspects of everything that happens to you will never allow you to break from whatever chains that are restraining you from being better.

being unconfident, no matter what type it is, is normal. but theres always a way to push through and grow. :)
