You said here and there that you ended a lot of friendships recently with cis people. I have too. Most of my trans girl friends have lost cis friends. Why is that the case right now?

First of all, I’m really sorry you’ve been experiencing that too. Right now there are cis people who “get it” and cis people who don’t, and every trans woman has experienced a kind of social / emotional abandon from certain cis friends as fascism in America has intensified. For me that’s looked like: Emotional unavailability, dismissiveness toward fears / anxieties, refusal to accommodate mental health changes, judgment of survival behaviors (“why are you home all the time?”), and rejecting mutual aid. Social ostracization is also another major factor at play.

These are all symptoms though, and at the end of the day there are cis people that want to do the right thing by their trans friends vs cis people who want to appear to do the right thing to other cis people, and that divide is growing as trans politics becomes more controversial to an increasingly conservative America
