sorry if this is kind of an odd question but how did you learn japanese? id really love to start learning but im not sure where to start and i know apps like duolingo and whatnot can be really misleading.
the safest route is to learn through the genki textbooks and then supplement trendier words through osmosis (being nosy and reading jp tweets) LOL. a friend suggested renshuu (app) which is pretty good at explaining grammar and has good writing practice for kana
