I know me personally I'm not seeing the light, but I believe in one for my own mental sanity so I don't over think about it and wonder if the people I lost actually went to a better place

What happens after death is fundamentally unknowable, because by definition, no one has come back from it. We can guess, but we won't know until it happens to us.

Plenty of people have come back from near death, and plenty of religious figures have claimed resurrection, but their reports are inconsistent. Though we do have some idea what causes near-death experiences.
