Hey all!

I'm sure you're used to this by now if you're into smaller websites like this, but we're officially launching a Patreon!

Servers are more expensive than I can cover for the rest of time, so tiny support from people who are passionate about the idea is so super helpful!

We're passionate about creating a simple social media platform that is free of algorithms and harmful practices which are designed to keep people addicted.

All of Neospring's development is open source, and as of now has all been done by one person (me) with some tiny PRs here and there.

Over the past week, we've added:

Website skins (+ skins per profile) (In your settings! Account settings for local, profile settings for on your profile)
Better reporting
Global searching (at https://neospring.org/search)
Better permissions through the Helper permission
Profile embeds (any profile /embed)
3 new timelines available from your timeline feeds
A bunch of tiny bug fixes

There's a ton more to come, but I hope that gives you the idea! We'd love to expand Neospring even more and improve our current features until they're as good as they could possibly be, but we can't do this without your help!

Please update your block lists. Blocks are now managed through the new relationships system, and previously blocked users are now unblocked! Please manually re-add their usernames. We're sorry for the inconvenience, but this new system allows us to better manage blocked users.

Blocked users are now forced to unfollow you, and you are forced to unfollow them.

Other stuff

Line breaks in profile warning have been fixed, as well as full Markdown support in warnings...

could you do a bigger explanation of what circles are and how they work?

Sure! Circles act as a shared inbox. They're essentially like having another profile, except you can invite other users to it, and they can answer questions sent to its inbox! Only the owner can manage the circle's settings and add/remove people from it, but all members of the circle can answer questions sent to the circle. Circles are accessible through /+name instead of /@name like profiles are.

does spark support br tags or do i just have to do a bunch of spaces for all the line breaks?

Yes. You can also just do two lines down to start a new paragraph. It also supports putting two spaces at the end of the line to force a new line, as most Markdown renderers do.

hi!!! are you able to make it a feature being able to reset passwords in ur settings instead of having to email and stuff? if not thats ok!!

I plan on adding some backup questions that you can answer to log into your account as well. If you already have access to the account, you can change the password in your account settings towards the bottom!

Hihiii Neospring staff! I'm curious, could it at all be possible for one to render their own theme across the entire website (like on other peoples profiles) locally here, like how Retrospring has the option to? It was a feature rather helpful for me on there! I do appreciate the notion of there being an option to disable custom themes entirely on here, but it makes me a bit "aw man" that, by extension, I have to also not see any custom edits I'd made to my theming too?

All fair points! This setting has been updated to show your theme everywhere possible. Your custom theme will not be shown on other profiles, but it will be shown on every other page.

All CommonMark Markdown works here (with some GitHub Flavored Markdown). It is currently possible to change text color due to sanitization, but I'll work on it if people want! Here's a super simple CommonMark guide.

It's all up to you, you're free to do whatever you'd like for now! Keep in mine Neospring uses playful imagery and bright colors (theme color, logo font, etc.), so that should be something to keep in mind!

Will there ever be more than 2 account creations? (Like one extra more aka three) the reason being for like if you forget a password to a different account and already have two or yada yada (sorry if that doesn’t make sense)

Possibly! I need to work on some sort of system for asking for support when you forget the account password, as well as a better way to prove an account belongs to you.

I've imagined a way to all you to be logged into multiple accounts and switch them from within the site, but it's very much a WIP right now. I'll keep everybody updated when it gets somewhere real!

Yup! We're planning on adding the ability to block specific anonymous users and such. We also plan on allowing you to block specific strings from questions asked to you.
