Tbf I found those Akatsuka scans from Pan Baidu, a Chinese version of Google Drive basically (Fun fact, it's still there and it got updated with more scans back in 2023, but they changed their download system, and I'm currently figuring it out), and just reuploaded them, but my drive was the only one that was publicly available for people, it's also what Ai used for her reading until the DMCA. Idk if it was considered "stealing" since I technically stole first lmao.

I'm an Android user, so I use an app call "Yōkai" (There are similar alternatives like TachiyomiY2K and Mihon that pretty much work the same, just with different interferences). It works like a search engine, so what you do is install extensions (Aka manga sites) and when you search for certain manga, it'll find them.

I originally used Tachiyomi and Aniyomi (Can be used for anime) and used them since 2021, but both apps got DMCA'd and are no longer being updated (You can still use them as long as you use a repo tho). There's plenty of alternatives that are pretty much the same, so it boils down to preferences.

But yeah, that's how I usually read manga now. Mostly for translated stuff tho, I'm kinda unsure about raws tbh.

Back then, I used to go on a site called VNsharing, which is a Vietnamese forum that has manga raws. When I used to be hyperfixated on Doraemon/Fujiko Fujio, that site was how I was able to find raws for various Fujiko manga, including Mojacko. Haven't checked the forum in years though.

Yeah I'm familiar with it, I think I drew some of the main boys before years ago. I never watched it, but I do remember at the time finding the boys cute.

You can experiment with whatever works for you, or even merge some of those methods. For example, after I do the method in the video I linked you, that's when I try the color bleed effect. Usually you duplicate your entire layer and then move it just a tiny bit. Then, use the moving blur and set it to Color blend mode (Or whatever looks good to you).

A fews things to keep in mind though,

• It helps to do research on what era/specific style you're trying to go for. It's important to note that not all styles are the same despite the year. If you want a style similar to say Hanna Barbera, find old screencaps from shows like Huckleberry Hound and observe. You can use your own style if it works in a vintage cartoon.

• Cel-animated cartoons use very thin lineart. Try using a thinner pencil or pen-like brush. I can link the one I use later on, although Ibis Paint only shows brushes as QR codes 😐

• COLOURS. Cel-animated shows from 60s-90s tend to have slightly muted colour pallettes, so it wouldn't make sense to have a brightly coloured shows like Bluey or any made in digital, remember that. You can look at caps from old shows and use eyedroppers if you want (Sometimes HD caps can help). Also, never use pure white or black. I tend to use dark brown for the lineart and something like #FFF1E6 for white (Feel free to shift it to whatever fits the mood).

• I suck at backgrounds tbh, so I can't tell you much other than they're sometimes painted in cel cartoons, usually watercolour, oil or acrylic I think. If you don't wanna do all that, just pull a background from an old show lol. It's okay, I don't know how to paint either.

• I honestly rarely do this aside unless it's intentional and you don't really have to either, but others recommend compressing your images to give it that more crustier look. Like, shrinking the resolution to a certain percentage and saving the image as a jpeg.

• This is also optional, but you can also use drop-shadow to give your characters that more cel-animation look (This requires separating your characters from your background. Put them

Plus, if you watch old VHS/TV recordings of cartoons, the quality varies from video to video. Or if you don't like the old recording effects and want a more HD style, try looking at remastered versions of old cartoons, like the ones for Disney (At least the ones that don't suck ass or rely on shitty AI lol).

If you have a computer, you could also use NSTC-QT, which is what I see everyone use, but I can't since I don't have a computer, so Idk how to tell ya sob sob.

I ended up rambling lol, but hopefully these can give you an idea. Maybe if I get better at this, I can do a more proper tutorial post. Sorry if some stuff came off as unclear, I suck at explaining sometimes.
