Convergence: A Jayvik Zine
jayvikfanzine
Convergence, a for-charity zine celebrating the completion of Arcane by exploring the relationship between Jayce Talis and Viktor.
We will be answering questions from questions you left in our forms or in our neospring!
so i applied for the zine as an artist, so when are we gonna know that we got in? thanks!
What you have filled is the Interest Check form, where we are figuring out what our audience wants, and it helps us figure out an estimate of how many applications we will actually be expecting when the Application form opens. If you have a look at our carrd: https://jayvikfanzine.carrd.co/#schedule, or info doc: https://bit.ly/JayvikFanzineInfoDoc, you can see that our actual applications will open on the 10th of January, and we will be asking for some samples and a portfolio!
slow burn rivals to lovers convergence and only you jayvik zines?
The zine yaoi is canon
Hello! I apologize if this was answered in the info doc and I just missed it: do potential applicants for creators have to be over 18? I’m currently 17 and interested in applying when the time comes and from the looks of it this is a sfw project (with potential for an nsfw add on) but I figured I should still ask to get my ducks in a row
You have to be 18 by the time contributor applications close (10th Feb 2025)!
Hello! I'm in the middle of filling out a moderator application but am not sure how formal to be with examples for the "What relevant experiences do you have for this role?" question. I automatically started answering like a cover letter or resume for job hunting, not sure if that's the vibe you're looking for. Would you want resume-esque examples?
You're free to fill our the application however you'd like! We just want to see for this question if you do have enough experience with the given role. While zine experience is encouraged, we also greatly take into account experience outside zines as long as it's relevant and useful (depending on the roles as well). So be it just a list or long and structured, if you think your answer can stand out from the rest and grab our attention then go for it!
say someone is a songwriter; would there be any way to contribute to this zine in that medium?
Unfortunately, for now we are only seeking artists and writers! We understand that songwriting is a wonderful medium, but due to the focus of the project, we're aiming towards art & writing mediums!
Hi!!! I’m so excited to try out participating in a zine for the first time— for writers, in one of the answers you mentioned a larger portfolio to possibly break any ties. Are there any general guides for that? Also, will there be applications for separate types of artists (eg spot vs page etc)?
There’s no set format for your portfolio! Just include your best writing pieces to showcase your skills. You can check our info doc for more details! As for artists, all types of page artwork (spot, spread, etc.) will be covered under a single application for page artist contributors!
Hi! In a previous ask, you mentioned that contributors and mods won’t have to wait long for results. Would it be possible to get an idea when mod applicants will hear back from you?
We're hoping to send out the mod app results within 4 days after applications close!
hi! super excited! i know in the info doc you say that writers are required to submit 3 samples with max 2.5k words, is that a maximum for each sample or for the total word count? i apologize if this is a bit of a silly question, i'd just like to be sure! additionally, would it be alright to attach a larger portfolio of writing in addition to those samples? thanks much!
No such thing as a silly question! We meant 2.5k words each, just so we can see you're able to write a full yet concise story within the bounds of the zine. A larger portfolio is not required but it will be helpful. We will mainly focus on the samples provided, but might reference the full portfolio in the case we need to break any ties.
Will you send out rejection/wait list responses to artist/mod applications?
We will, so you won't have to wonder for too long during the results period!
Will there be some instructions for applying as an artist? It would be my first time doing so for a zine and I'm a bit lost
Of course! Once we open contributor applications there will be clear guidelines for you to follow! If you're curious you can check our info doc!
when Joining do we need a portfolio or is it optional?
Optional but very encouraged! A portfolio can help us evaluate your skills and consistency further more!
would u need to have published a work recently to be counted as a contributer,,,
Not at all! We will judge you solely by your technical skill!
Will you be shipping worldwide?
Yes!
Do we retain the rights to our piece(s) once sales have ended? (For instance, are we allowed to sell our work for the zine as prints in our own print shop, etc). Thank you so much for putting together this project!
Of course! Once sales and leftovers are finished, every contributor has the right to publish or monetize the work they did for our zine!
the https://jayvikfanzine.carrd.co/ link isn't working D:
Thank you for pointing this out to us! We've reached out to customer support and our carrd is online again!
please let this be jayvik only 🙏 no multiship
This is a jayvik-focused zine!
is it possible to just participate as an aritst and not have to buy the zine?
As a contributor, you will be compensated and we'll aim to give you a full bundle for FREE!
Does the zine accept/is ok with first timers joining? I’ve never ben part of a zine but i would love to write something, if deemed worthy.
Of course!! Writer applicants will be solely evaluated by their skills; narrative structure, dialogues, prose, pacing, and imagery!
Are you allowed to only submit 3 samples of our artwork, or is that the minimum?
That is the minimum! You will have the chance to submit 3 samples and a portofolio!
For creating merch will it be limited to create 1-2 pieces?
We've included this in our info doc! Merch artists will be responsible in creating at minimum 2 designs!
Will spot artists be considered or just page artists?
We will be accepting spot artists alongside page artists as well!
Can I still join if I haven’t drawn any jayvik art yet?
Of course! Arcane / Jayvik samples are encouraged but not required!
Hello! i came across your zine making and was hoping to join but about the merch, will you guys do the printing while the artists do the designing or do they do the printing as well?
With zines, production will be fully handled by mods! Merch artist are only responsible in creating the designs!!
Hey! Even if you guys are planning to do an official moderator announcement later, i think it would be really appreciated if you could at least tell us who is running the project now, as honestly I feel a little nervous at you guys not saying who is currently behind the project
Hello, thank you for bringing this concern to our attention! We completely understand how important transparency is, especially for a project like this. We've added a section in our carrd showcasing our current runners! We sincerely apologize for causing any unease, your trust and support is invaluable to us!
Hi, would you be open to considering an art mod or assistant/intern art mod application? I assume you have one already since it wasn’t listed on the applications but I just wanted to check! Thank you and have a great day 🩷
Thank you so much for your consideration! fortunately we already have 2 art mods working on this zine. We aren't sure if we'll have intern mods but it'll be discussed further!!
