do you have any favorite author? someone whose works you think are good? (can be anything from anywhere really)

i've thought about this one since it was sent in. hard question... i don't usually look into authors, even though i probably should

i really, really like pengosolvent's comics. i would consider him an author for those. in general comics are literature to me but pengosolvent really has a way with words and storytelling that i've adored for many years now

i might remember a more fitting answer later, one more in the realm of Strictly written works. but maybe i won't, i've always been most interested in the way writing can be incorporated into works that are more than just words. be it multimedia oddities or even just the way writing can be catered to a television show, a game, a movie. this isn't to say books or other strictly written works are lesser. there is a whoooole lot you can do with ONLY words, i know this very very well. i just suck at focusing on only words a lot so oops lol.

helloooo whats your most considered niche interest? would you recommend it to other people?

i'm not sure if i want to count an interest as something i have to actively pursue or something i like passively so i'm gonna give one for both definitions

something i actively pursue: i love vivid/stasis. it's free on steam. it's this rhythm game that's also a visual novel and has a bunch of really, really cool stuff in it. i would recommend it wholeheartedly even if you're bad at rhythm games, as long as you enjoy them you'll be alright. things pick up after the first chapter

something i passively enjoy: i really adore mu cartographer but there isn't another person on the planet who's played it before. i think it's one of the most effective alien exploration games in the world because of how you have to learn to use these tools that seem abstract at first only to slowly understand what they really do. it's really incredible. imothe biggest barrier to entry is that it costs a couple of bucks (which a lot of people don't just Have on them) but if you got itch.io's bundle for racial justice and equality some years ago you have it already. that's how i got it. i would also recommend it, it's short but very very sweet. i should replay it

sorry for the most unseasoned chicken question ever but what's your music of the moment? y'know, the one you're listening to it a lot

nooo don't worry Music is awesome. I love to talk about Music. let's see if this thing has hyperlink markdown

the other day i found the album "SAINT ANGER" by rural internet and i love it. i wish i could find lyrics somewhere because the ones i Can hear are life changing i'm bad at genres but some guy on soundcloud says this is like... drill-metal-hiphop

another album i've been in love with recently is vignette by frums. it's really beautiful not even gonna try to guess what genre frums is. i saw a post from her about how she makes music once and i didn't recognize a single word. i still don't know what xenoharmonics are. just hear it

quite recently a youtuber i think is funny released a song. it's really good and they need to release more music. it's tourniquet by ratskewer. youtube suggest this is "post punk" though i kind of wonder if it is just punk. i'm not big on punk so i wouldn't know. comments say it's kind of like nine inch nails and i can sorta see it

how do you feel about people liking what you create (especially your baldi stuff)? /gen

i'm glad people like it! yes it's kind of weird with "baldi" things because my relationship with the Game is complicated, but if i didn't want people to see it i just wouldn't share it... and to be honest i don't think of it as drawing Baldi Fanart either, it's something else to me. that removes any contention on my end. people will have a different perspective of these people and this "game" than i do and that's natural, have your own interpretation of this work and world, it's good for its health. only listen to what others think if you come to the conclusion that it makes sense. and interpret my pieces however you want as well, don't worry about what i think about it. find your truest and most beautiful perspective. keep hold of any window you can.

i would also like to reiterate that anyone can use my work for whatever purposes they'd like. icons, banners, editing, videos, reposting, with or without credit i don't care. property is lame go crazy

sorry if that's a lot more existential than you were expecting but it's certainly some kind of answer

(Still the same person from the writing ask. This is will be my last and then I'll leave you alone.)

No, not at all. And even if you are, I see no problem whatsoever.

I have been writing for eight full years now. How it started it's a little funny story but yes, not everyone has the inherent ability to write. In my case, it came as naturally as it could. I saw people creating, I wished to create as well. Then it stuck and I never let it go.

I am an autodidact, meaning I self-taught myself. Never did I watch or read tips or ever participate in circles meant for beginners, instead, I analyzed others' works and carefully picked out elements that interested me and those that didn't. And just like that, little by little, I molded my writing style – through trial and error. It's nothing special nor revolutionary but I am proud of it.

Which begs me the question: is there any specific literary element or device you like working with? In my case, it's symbolism and metaphors. It tends to become complex but it also gives you so much room to work with. I always have fun with those.

mmmmmm literary elements... i'm not huge on giving anything a name to be honest i just like to Do stuff. i put my hands in there and they move around and hey there's text cool something i have done pretty consistently is been Very Experimental about perspective. past/present/future tense, first/second/third person, who is talking, who is being spoken to, who the narrator is, the implications of having a narrator, that's all really interesting to me and i do a lot with that. i like to twist the story like an arm. i like to bend the narrator until it hurts people say i'm good at metaphors and uuhhh similesss i thinkkkk? like again i wasn't taught english Formally i don't know the vocabulary for this but sometimes i compare things in a way that people think they're not supposed to and i gotta do that more. i kinda forgot i can do that. oops now watch me make exactly one section in NULL gets a job (title drop ooo) really really flowery and prosey while the rest is normal. watch it happen. im gonna forget again. it's gonna happen

btw tutorials/guides for writing kinda suck im ngl ive seen a couple of them just out of curiosity and they all make me want to write less. like they're always talking about what you Shouldn't do and that's dumb, there's nothing you Shouldn't do it's all about How you do it. everything has its right place. everything is a tool . it kills the atmosphere... this is why i dont want to become a published author the editing process would kill me

In regards to your writing, do you have any inspiration? Do you base yourself onto something or simply create on your own, no references needed? Y'know, autodidact type of thing? It is interesting to me to see how writers eventually began, well, writing. We all start somewhere.

while i don't usually reference anything while i write i do feel more inspired when i read a book i enjoy. one of my favourites has always been the mysterious benedict society for the way it exposits in these rambles it does in the middle of other things happening. some people dislike this but i feel it perfectly captures the way i think about things and it's awesome. i should reread it again a problem i have is that i really hate most books i read, i think they suck ass. so for a very long time i gave up on books completely. this isn't a good idea, you flourish so much more from reading even a couple of books. and there's every kind of book out there, you won't hate every single one even if you're a master league hater like i am. you don't have to read a lot, you don't have to be a bookworm. after all then you wouldn't be spending that time writing. but pick up Some books. if you hate a lot of them that's ok. because not only are there good ones but also sometimes there are things that suck so bad that they inspire you to do Better for example: ready player one is a pretty good book but the romance sucks ass because it doesn't challenge wade watts' misogyny at all nor does it make meaningful commentary on falling in love with internet people. it would've been good if art3mis was transgender and wade had to make a decision if he really DOES love her personality enough to stop being a piece of shit. it started having the right idea but it was with a different character so it's like well why didn't you go all the way coward (probably because it was written by a gamer in the 2010s that's my theory) think like this. be a critic. it will make you a better writer even if you hate everyone's favourite things because now you can do that to your own work isn't that awesome

tangent: i recently realized that not everyone has this inherent Ability To Write. apparently i've had it as a hobby for my entire life and not everyone does this? like, we all type words on the internet to talk to each other, we even tell each other stories over the internet, but not everyone thinks to translate this into writing something. for anyone out there that doesn't know where to start i recommend writing on a document like you're telling a story to a friend. like you are a character, like it really happened.. something like that, just put yourself in that mindset

i have little formal education. they took me out of all english classes to do whatever i want. i do not know why they did this. i don't know in what ways my vision of the world differs from others. so maybe none of this will work for anyone except for me. maybe you just think i'm autistic now idk

ok retyping it again 🌈🌈ok so in a hypothetical scenario where they kiss, how do you think they'd do so? i always felt weird drawing thm kissing cuz i always thought way too hard about how they'd do it. with the lack of facial features on either of them its kind of a blur.

FOR THOSE LOOKING LATER the question is about null and gotta sweep

i think the invisible parts hurt for null to move (+ in general) so i don't think null would like a pole smacking his face very much. but if that weren't a thing i would sayyyyy.... lick the handle? question marks? i mean you don't want those bristles in your face (TRUST ME. go stick your face in a used broom if you don't) and sweep isn't one of those brooms with the hole in the top so yeah sure keep licking we can save it as for the "how do you make it look right though he has no face " you kind of have to utilize clever angles and compositions with null anyway so use the tricks you've learned there. something i do now for n/ull (which is basically this on Nightmare Difficulty) is very faint outlines Or shading that cuts out where the body is supposed to be to give the impression of an outline of something that isnt there. unreasonably effective i should do it more often only other thing i can think of is something to do with the things some people draw as stickers on gottfried sweep's handle but i dont remember if they're actually stickers or like. what. anyway i guess you could gnaw on that if you want to chew on something. do you chew when you kiss. actually that's probably a bad thing to do but i think null would do it because he's weird and doesn't know anything socially. moral of this story don't get involved with this man
