I have a question to the rentry experts on here so I heard about the reclaim system and stuff and I'm worried if I get my shit taken, I've seen people put a disclaimer at the top of their rentry it has like? A number and it can be a sideways scroll box. It acts as kind of like a "Hi @user claimed this and its active" or something and I want some insight why people do this if anyone has any advice on that so I can maybe do that too if it's necessary (Sorry if I worded that horribly I really explained the best I could LMAO)

Hi this is 2 prevent theft incase someone emails Rentry support claiming 2 be u (ex. I own /url and someone stole it pls help me!) The disclaimer can be added 2 let Rentry know one of ur social media accounts. Then, Rentry can send smth 2 u on that acc so they can only be sure it's rlly u if u answer on that acc. I hope that makes sense 😭🙏

NOT a Rentry Expert here but people do this for a few of reasons:

  • To prove that they are actively using the URL so it won't be re-claimed by another person.
  • To prove that the genuine content on the URL has taken over 30 seconds to make ( the rules are you can re-claim a Rentry if whatever content it has hasn't taken longer than 30 seconds ).
  • Some people put " I know my edit code " in that line of text because some people email Rentry Support claiming to be a person that owns a URL and that they "forgot" the edit code, just so they can steal the URL basically

To the ACTUAL Rentry experts please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this!!!! This is just what I've heard going around and I'm 99.9% sure all I've mentioned is true also sorry I'm bad at explaining things too

Pressing continue will bring you to the following URL:

Are sure you want to go there?
