thinking about that culture thing where people name their kids with special meanings so they would sort of "become" the meaning? it's like their parents' wishes for what the child will be like, whether literally or metaphorically.
now, i'm imagining that but with Childe. we know that his real name, Ajax, is referring to Ajax The Great. so imagine naming your son after a great warrior, a hero, wishing your timid son to become strong in some way... and he does become strong, does become a warrior, but in such a way that maybe you shouldn't have named your son that.
if the cost of your son becoming strong means killing his old self, the sweet boy who had never wanted to harm anyone, then maybe you should've named him something weaker. maybe you would've been able to protect him if he was weaker, if he stayed timid. idk i'm crazy
