golden: I was watching a video tour of Juilliard’s campus and was like hmm…

Second sun: I was finishing up with golden and thought I wasn’t going to write another fic, but I just kept thinking about tk on a pirate ship in a sea of blue. I came up with what is now the summary on ao3. Then I stopped thinking about it because I knew I couldn’t start writing it unless I had a plot figured out. Well after a few months of not thinking, the plot came to me and I wrote it all out and I knew I was in business 🌊

This is for life: I had written a few snippets of it just on my own, thinking about Friendship, and then saw the bts90sfest and was like hey, that could work for this, so I signed up for the fest 🤷‍♀️ OMG WAIT I just remembered I wrote that first snippet in the CUTEST cafe with a very good friend of mine as company 🥰 so she (and my whole friend group I still have from college) was the inspo I guess lol

Cotbm: I was browsing the prompts for the tkendgame fest and was interested in a few of them, but when I read this prompt I just KNEW I had to write it. I knew the characters immediately, and the world I wanted to put them in. A lot of tk’s back story and the premise of the story was already laid out in the prompt so I just had to make sure it all logically connected (and do something I never thought I would do: flashbacks) as well as figure out how to have things play out. Tbh I never expected to write a mafia au so my interest in the prompt surprised me. But once I claimed it I knew I was going to write the trope /my/ way and I… def did.

Lover boy listen: I listen to a LOT of audiobooks and get annoyed when I get a bad narrator who ruins the entire experience. One day this happened and I was like you know who would never do this to me? Kim Taehyung. That guy, he has a great voice. And the idea just developed from there. It first started just as a little idea I posted on Twitter. After I finished second sun, I felt like I couldn’t write anything, so I wanted to veer completely left of my usual writing style. I also always wanted to write an old school café au.

I dim the lights: I wrote a little snippet of it when I was writing cotbm and then just put it on the back burner. (Are we seeing a theme I have ideas and they have to cook at least a few months in my brain before they’re ready) I saw the one setting fest was happening and was like, what is the smallest setting I can think of? A couch. And then I was like, you know what? I could use that one snippet I wrote that one time for this.

Sunrise: I read a book, and I was like, I want to write a fic like this. Which is hilarious because sunrise isn’t like that book at ALL. I was consumed by the characters though, and the setting. Like I can see everything: the /feel/ of things and them and how they will be. It’s all very clearly in my head so here we are. (The book was Family Meal by Bryan Washington. I say this because I mention a different book in ch 3 of Sunrise and I want to preemptively make it clear that book wasn’t the inspo for the fic. And again, Family Meal is NOTHING like sunrise it is not a romance.)
