How do you usually pick out color palettes for your themes, graphics, profiles, etc? I've seen a lot of profiles on here with specific color palettes, and I can't help but wonder how you think of them. -☂️

Usually just my favorite colors/color combis, also a bit related to my OCs. I mainly switch between 2-3 themes anywhere I go. Either aqua, orange, or grey in combination with each other. I definitely mess around a lot too and see what fits and what doesn't. ^^
Honestly, I reuse the same 3 color palettes, main one being the one I'm currently using in this acc and main rentrys (white, blue & a very dark pink). Signature colors tbh. When I want to use a new palette, I experiment with many colors till I like how it looks. If that doesn't work I look up color combos in Pinterest or ask for ideas.
sometimes i try to think of colors that fit the character/s im basing it around, other time i use different resource rentries (/horrere is one i use a lot) for color palette inspo... coolors is also a good site imo
I find a graphic that I like, color pick from it, throw it in a gradient map and apply it to every part of the theme.
Honestly– it's just whole vibe for me. Like to me, Nico Robin is purple, so I'm making my rentry shit for her purple. However sometimes I just scroll through Pinterest, go to a random palette generator, or scroll through a server with some those coloring thingies people do. I don't really get how to do the coloring stuff on my own.. (>︿<。)
the character/s I'm using!! Or I look up color palettes on Pinterest
Depends on the character, I'll use what I'm currently working on as an example
On the right is the character I'm theming around, on the left is the graphic I'm making, and in the middle is the gradient map I'm using
The colours I choose for the gradient map are based off of the colours of the character, so since he's purple/blueish I add purple and blue, then I also add another colour, it is either the opposite from their main colour (Complementary), a hue shift from their main colour (Analogous), or the character's secondary colour, I usually use the character's secondary colour or a complementary colour while subtly hue shifting towards that colour because I like the contrast in my themes and graphics (I am an artist I've been taught to make sure the colour pallete of my art is interesting), so here I chose a light pinkish/red orange and hue shifted from purple, to pink in the darker areas so it isn't too harsh of a colour change
Then I'd colour pick the colours from certain areas like the most prominent colour and test them around on my theme until it looks good, an example I have of this that's still up is @reader, though for this I did lower the opacity of the gradient map layer to 50% so you can still see the original colours a bit
And that's my process on colours for graphics and/or themes, I hope it's helpful in some way or just interesting to read about haha
I usually use Coolors (a site), and then I pick the colors I want! Its super simple and even have the color's names!
i just mash colours i like together & pray it looks decent
it depends on the character i'm theming around! like for my guest 666 (aka current) theme, i pick red and black because that's what her color palette is, and for my sebastian theme i had mostly blues because he has a lot of blues in his color palette :3
i like to search up gradients and color pick them , make my own with https://gradientmap.pro/ , or color pick from an image
Usually I set out what colors I want as a palette, and then colorpick hex codes/modify to what I like. or i just find stuff and say "eh close enough" and put it all together.
there's a rule in art for confined color palettes that helps stuff look more cohesive. so if u had 2 colors, u would use one color and ite variants 75% of the time and then a different color that looks good with the first that u use 25% of the time, and you'd use this for stuff u want to pop out. example, blue for 75%, most of it is blue but then the text and stuff is gold and white (white being a variant of gold) and it would help that stuff stick out better!
idk i was like "green because ehh its randompcb not randomwhatever else and uhh some grey because it looks good for text boxes and now ill go monospace bitmap font becaue why not"
