i’m sure your fest fic will do great! your writing style is amazing and will blow all the other authors out of the water
two things: 1. thank you, i genuinely appreciate your faith in me ♡ 2. writing is not a competition and fics are not a popularity contest, so let’s lift up all writers, always. i know that talk like this is mostly just lighthearted joking not meant to be taken seriously, but i fear that someone might still get hurt by it. only love here, please ♡

i really am so sorry you feel that way (and i am not a stranger to that same hurt myself). i hope you know that i’ve got your back and i’m always on your side as a fellow writer. please participate, please post your work, and please don’t ever feel like there is a competition, because there is none. sometimes the thinking patterns of the outside world, where we compete over good grades and jobs and whatnot, creep into our creative communities, but they really have no space here. we’re all just a bunch of library-loving nerds, who love to tell stories. we fight back by telling them ♡
As a fellow writer in the mystery fest, these comments are exactly why I don’t want to participate in fests or even post my work anymore. So, you’re right. People are hurt by it.
