Yeah, definitely. Especially in recent times, you see powerful countries and figures, turning fully corrupt to the core, and causing harm to those around them. An example of this is Elon Musk, who also is a perfect example of the second sentence. Musk used to be viewed by many as the “cool billionaire”, but now he has shown to be one of the worst people alive currently.

since majority of the politicians in my country are corrupt, yeah i believe that the tendency is high. there are a few who are able to stay honest, but that's very rare.

got a feeling that the level of this tendency could be influenced by the kind of people surrounding the person who has power. if they're surrounded by other corrupt people who abuse authority, i think it's easy for them to end up the same. though if they're surrounded by a lot of other people who use power properly, maybe the tendency would be lower.... or at least i like to hope for that. the amount of corruption here is disappointing

This is a bit of a negative, yet still realistic view of power. i wouldn't say this is wrong or untrue, but there's still some nuance to be presented if we use different language. Power isn't inherently corrupting in theory, but it gives more leeway for corruption. Power means responsibility, and misusing the tools given to you to do a certain job (in this case power) means you are not being responsible, and you should be stripped of your tools. However, when we see today's world, it's difficult to say that power isn't inherently corrupting.

i could write more but i'm a bit tired lol
