You asked for more thoughts so I'm giving them. I love how in chapter 7 when Vi and Jinx are having the first What Do We Do Now talk how perfectly captured both Vi and Jinx are as characters. Jinx with the simple yet deeply earnest ability to tell Vi just how much she loves her. How much she needs her, a constant tug on her heart. How Vi is the axis that centers and turns her.

And then theres Vi. Vi with every wall down, Vi with every part of her exposed. Vi, who can talk but has so much sitting in her heart, her mind that pulling these feelings out; even though they exist and they're felt as deeply as Jinx's is something she has to struggle through. But she does it for Jinx. She sacrifices even the comfort of her own stubborn walled off nature for Jinx in this moment, to tell her that her love; her want is not reciprocated but it can be returned. Not without danger, not without hazards but Vi being willing to bleed just so Jinx knows she's alive is so so good.

And then god the way Jinx promises that no one will ever take Vi away, the way Vi's never been asked so gently for a kiss... the whole chapter is sublime; more then any chapter I think thats the one that really made me really fall in love with HLS. Oh and the little moment during the nap when Vi wakes up and you see her be so weak and not in a bad way. She needs Jinx physically close now, she needs that skin contact and its such a domestic moment between them; you forget that they're sisters so completely that you're just reading a couple being soft and in love on a hazy afternoon. Could talk about this fic endlessly tbh lmao

PS thinking about these lines 'So maybe it’s okay. Maybe she can mold this into something soft and good, without teeth. Maybe, just maybe, she doesn’t have to be scared' while thinking about where they are now makes my insides wanna crawl out in the best/worst way.
