Most VTubers are young and have never been popular before. That type of person especially lacks the necessary life skills to handle their emotions / feelings. VTubing, like esports, is also more of a young person’s game: Grinding an intense amount of hours out of passion, networking in social circles that are very nerd-oriented, spending lots of income back into a career-hobby instead of a house or family, etc. So, again, a LOT of young people who have never experienced popularity before and don’t know how to handle it, which results in a high school-like environment. Except there is no one around to call a teacher or principal or parent if a line is crossed. For example, there is a non-insignificant number of VTubers who engage in stalking and harassing other VTubers, up to and including lengthy call out posts intended to inspire personal armies to rise up and take out other VTubers.

I personally believe that kind of person is a blight on the VTubing community as a whole and needs to be removed, which is why I want to more vocally speak up against VTubers who engage in that level of harassment. (My current harasser is a VTuber herself)

The other thing is that people see big VTubers make big money and they get highway hypnosis over it. All those zeros, to quote Saul Goodman, and they don’t think straight. It takes a very long time to make a lot as a VTuber and some people can’t handle that grind without combusting
