..goddamn
i'd consider myself to be pretty good at most rhythm games, i've played a LOT of them (in project diva we trust) but for some reason, I never got into Rhythm heaven. It was too confusing for me, and it was far more different from the usual playstyle I'm used to.

It is very different, but I actually kinda like it for that, because there's much more variety in the gameplay (or it least it feels that way) compared to your average DDR or Beatmania clone. Instead of just pressing buttons as they appear you have to memorize various cues, which are different for each minigame. My favorite game as a kid was WarioWare: Mega Microgame$, which isn't a rhythm game, but does have a very similar structure and was made by the same team at Nintendo.
I guess it depends on how musically inclined and/or patient you are. Took me a while to get "on its tempo", especially with how precise it expects you to be, but I just beat the GBA version, including the Expert and Master stages (which go out of their way to annoy you), so it's fair to say I am in the demographic for this game.
Also, the music. It's fucking AWESOME.
